Lastly, fill the trenches with soil and pack it down as you go. You want it firm enough that it won’t sink later, but not so compacted that grass won’t grow back.
At this final step, you need to conduct a system test to confirm that everything works exactly as your lighting plan specifies. Fixing small issues now saves you from digging things up later.
